Hood River Roy Webster Cross-Channel Swim

On Labor Day each year, approximately 500 participants swim across a 1.1-mile stretch of the Columbia River to Hood River. The annual Hood River County Chamber of Commerce's Cross Channel Swim originated in 1942 when local orchardist Roy Webster challenged himself to swim across the river.
